In the age of Web 2.0, marketing now includes monitoring and influencing your reputation vis-a-vis all the various and new forms of social media web sites. ie On line comments from TripAdvisor to BedandBreakfast.com, plus Yelp, Twitter, Flicker, Facebook, YouTube and even Google...what's an Innkeeper to do?

Inn keeping is often stressful. We must be all things to all people, but forget our own needs. This session will give you time saving hints, ideas for how to gain guest appreciation, and discuss the importance of a "Crisis Plan of Action" when things do go wrong. These experienced innkeepers will give you new ideas on how to handle the everyday tasks, and maybe enjoy them more!

B. Sales Strategies for Attracting Guests Mid-Week (and every day!)

Innkeepers have more tools available to them today to market their inn than ever in the past. But there are still some great tips, tricks and fundamentals to get guests into your inn even in the slowest time and days of the week. In this session you will learn about the power of one-on-one relationships, creative offerings and incentives, and making your inn attractive to mid-week travelers.

This session presented by our own talented innkeepers will demonstrate how to garnish a plate with piazze, use simple ingredients and methods to make your presentation a work of art even if you don't see yourself as an artist, or having the time to do it! Also tips for what to have on hand for the emergency breakfast.

B. Partnering Strategies-Identify and Implement Marketing with Others

Dave and Heidi Lanford The Iris Inn Waynesboro  Moderators.

There is a brand new state-wide initiative to build these partnerships using the VTC as a clearinghouse. A speaker from VTC will offer suggestions and information regarding this program. Other regional members will share their experiences with co-venturing. The challenges of being found by our target markets are greatly enhanced when we combine our resources.

Preparing your inn for BBAV Inspections and Guest Inspections! A light hearted yet down to earth rendering of how to accomplish tasks we as innkeepers deal with on a daily basis. How to make guests feel as if they are welcome and have our full attention....we call this hospitality! Hints to make your rooms to die for and food the guests are drooling with anticipation to eat!

Both presenters have been involved in the hospitality industry for a long time, as professional innkeepers and Judith as a former Inspector for the English Tourist Board.

At this time the Board of Directors will make reports to the membership regarding the state of the association. There will be ample time for the reports as well as questions and answers.

It is important to note that the Boar's Head Inn will add a day before, or after this meeting at the same $119.00 rate.  The Charlottesville innkeepers will also act as hosts for this event and will have an extra ticket event for those who wish to stay over.

We would like to plan a stay over event. Let us know which appeals to you. This event will be announced at a later date.
