Having been claimed as the “bluegrass capital of the world, Galax is located in the Appalachian region of the United States, Galax has long been famous for its traditional, or “old-timey” music and musicians. The Old Fiddler’s convention has been held here since 1935 and is one of the most prominent traditional music contests in the United States.
Just a few miles away, you will find the Blue Ridge Music Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Galax was incorporated in 1906 and was named after Galax, an evergreen plant that grows in the area.
