Bay View is on a hill overlooking Occohannock Creek with an expansive view to the Chesapeake Bay and a dock to deep water. Guests can enjoy a superb view, reading, crabbing, fishing, biking, swimming in the pool or the creek, a small beach, croquet, birding, a full country breakfast, 140 acres of woods, farm land, and creek shore to hike and explore, and a large spacious home. Golf, tennis, art galleries and antique shops are within a few miles.

Built in the "big house, little house" style unique to the Eastern Shore, the three original sections date from 1800 and feature heart pine floors, birds eye maple balusters, high ceilings, and four working fireplaces. Additions in 1940, 1961, and 1972 continued the Eastern Shore style architecture until the house stretches over one hundred feet and has five roof levels. There is a large screened porch overlooking the water where guests can enjoy the broad expanse of Occohannock Creek with its variety of boats, spectacular sunsets, and many species of waterfowl. According to tradition, court was held on the property in 1656, and pieces of clay pipe are often found on strolls along the beach. A collection of pipe pieces and arrowheads found on the property is displayed in the Bay View library along with other family memorabilia. Bay View has been a family home for several generations and is comfortably furnished with antiques and family pieces. The bedrooms have sitting areas with good light. The common rooms include a parlor, library, and family room. Guests may use the kitchen.

Bay View is one hour north of Norfolk, VA via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and a little over one hour south of Salisbury, MD. By water it is directly behind channel marker 16 as you enter Occohannock Creek.
