Greenock House Inn
Enjoy your chance to relax during your stay with us at Greenock House Inn.
Our home is a beautiful Victorian farmhouse dating from 1880. The house currently sits on five gorgeous acres, which secludes us from the town.
Specimen trees planted near the end of the 1800’s regally overlook the house. You’ll find Black Walnut, Cypress, Spruce, Catalpa, Magnolia, Maple, Oak and White Ash – one Ash is said to be over 200 years old!
The grounds are ever changing as we design, renovate and plant various gardens including herbs, vegetables and flowers. The far end of the property is bordered by the train tracks. Occasionally, you will hear the train whistle as it warns you that it is coming through.
If you want to just relax and rejuvenate at the Inn, there is plenty to keep you occupied.
If you enjoy nature, the grounds offer numerous activities. For bird watchers, we have many types of birds from hummingbirds to yellow-bellied sapsuckers to blue birds – and we even have binoculars.
There is also other wildlife from groundhogs, raccoons and wild turkeys to our “wild” cats that live around the house and always want food. There are plenty of hidden nooks and lawn seating if you’d prefer to simply enjoy the sun and read a book. Or, if you’re looking for something more active, lawn games are available.
You also have plenty of options at the house. Sit on the wrap around porches and enjoy lemonade or ice tea and cookies. Invite someone to join you in a game of cards or a board game in the parlor. Confound yourself with one of the jigsaw puzzle always found on the antique Black Oak sideboard. And, if you are musically inclined, please feel free to entertain the company at the antique upright grand piano.
Our specialty, here at the Inn, is the cuisine. After years owning restaurants, we decided to slow down the pace and move to a country inn. But, there is no doubt; we still love food and cooking. You get to enjoy the wide variety of cuisine we enjoy preparing.
A breakfast here can run the gamut from Moroccan Orange Salad to Swedish Pancakes to German Guglehopf. Our complimentary evening nibbles on the day of your arrival could be Spanish Tapas, English tea, or maybe, Japanese Tempura.
Of course, the area offers many, many different activities to fill your days. We are located near civil war battlefields, three Presidents homes (Montpelier, Monticello, & Ashlawn), numerous wineries, art galleries, antique shops, golf courses, and even skydiving.
Cancellations must be made by speaking directly with an innkeeper and receiving a cancellation code. We cannot be responsible for a cancellation made by e-mail or by voice mail.
