Welcome to Olde Towne Portsmouth and the Patriot Inn by the Elizabeth River, where Cornwallis loaded his troops when he set forth to Yorktown during the American Revolution. It is an elegant, casual 1784 inn where the waterfront is reflected in the hand-blown windowpanes jsut as it has been for over 200 years.
The Inn features four bed chambers which are appointed with antiques and fine reproductions typical of the period. Two chambers have wood-burning fireplaces, three have private baths, and all have TV/VCR/DVD and telephone/dataports. The beds are enhanced with down comforters, multiple down pillows and fine linens.

Awaken to the aromas of fresh-brewed coffee, cranberry scones, crepes, country biscuits or French toast, omelets or strata, kielbasa-potato bake, sausages or bacon, fresh fruit and fresh orange juice round out a full English breakfast.

Gosport Arts Festival, Cock Island sailboat races, Olde Town lantern & walking tours, Ghost Walk and Holiday Home tours, 15 events at the Intelos Pavillion at Harbor Center, Spirit of Independence/ Tall Ship cruises, 5 minute ferry ride to Norfolk Waterside, 25 minute ride to Virginia Beach oceanfront, and 45 minutes to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.

A large sunny parlour finds you by a cozy fire in winter or cool breezes of the water in the summer. This is where tea is served daily. A huge Colonial door opens onto a wonderful summer veranda with views of the river where you can smoke fine cigars.

From the fresh-cut flowers in our foyer to cheery fires burning in the three common room fireplaces - parlour, library and dining room - to the soothing fountain in our small courtyard garden, we invite you to relax, unwind and enjoy the changing of the seasons.
