Shepherd's Joy
An In-Town Farm.
Situated in the Historic District of Abingdon Virginia (the oldest incorporated town west of the Blue Ridge), Shepherd's Joy offers an opportunity to experience the rare Victorian charm of a former in-town sheep farm. Our Queen Anne country style family home was lovingly restored with attention to preserving the old with the conveniences of the new.
This is one of two Bed and Breakfast Inns in Virginia which are the childhood homes of the Innkeepers.
Inside our Victorian home, guests will find private areas for reading, writing or having a quiet time.
The four high ceiling bedrooms welcome guests with warmth and comfort and are tastefully furnished with family antiques, memorabilia, queen sized beds and private baths.
A Gourmet breakfast is served in the formal dining room.
Guests can escape to Shepherd's Joy to rest, relax and enjoy the pleasures of an unhurried life.
Join fellow guests on the wrap-around porch or stroll the grounds in a peaceful setting.
Abingdon offers visitors a variety of outdoor activities. Visit the world-famous Barter Theatre, the state theatre of Virginia for live performances; The Virginia Creeper Trail, a 34 mile hiking, biking, birding, horseback riding, footpath with outstanding mountain views; and The Martha Washington Inn. Tour Abington's Fields-Penn 1860 House museum, The William King Regional Arts Center and The Arts Depot to see artists in residence. Visit several antique shops, Appalachian Arts and craft stores and enjoy lunch and dinner at many of Abingdon¯¿½s fine restaurants.
Stay at Shepherd's Joy during your next visit to our historic town, a Virginia Main Street Town.
