A Box Full of Love: Romance at the Boxwood Inn

Thursday, February 21st, 2013

“One who walks the road with love will never walk the road alone.” – C.T. David

With February being celebrated as the month of love, we have another bed & breakfast wedding story to share with you all. The Boxwood Inn is a “family-run B&B” in Newport News, VA. Over the years, the inn has seen many instances of love, be it from their romantic packages, intimate dinners, anniversary getaways, or wedding celebrations. The latter instance includes not only guests, but also the family that runs the inn.

The Boxwood Inn’s Executive Chef married his love, Rebekah, in October of 2009 at the beautiful B&B which also happens to be their place of employment. Rebekah says, “We feel very blessed to not only work together, but also to get to be in the place where ‘it all started’ every day. We have a great love for our inn and we were honored to be able to share that with our family and friends as we celebrated our love for each other.”

Not only is the Boxwood Inn a perfect venue for upcoming nuptials, but it is also a wonderful spot for other romantic instances such as anniversaries, honeymoons, and couples getaways: “The inn is the perfect place for romance! Guests can complete their romantic evening with an overnight stay and a bottle of champagne…Guests can also really wow their sweetie with a Romance and Relaxation package, featuring a 60-minute couples’ massage.”

A Display of “LOVE” at Ma Margaret’s House

Friday, February 15th, 2013

The Virginia Tourism Corporation has recently chosen one of InnVirginia’s own member inns as one of sixteen different sites for their LOVEwork displays. Ma Margaret’s House Bed & Breakfast in Reedville, VA will now be exhibiting these letters of “LOVE,” which illustrate the motto and ultimate goal of the Virginia Tourism Corporation: “LOVE is at the heart of every Virginia vacation.”

Along with the display at Ma Margaret’s House, LOVEwork has been gradually emerging at other sites all over the Commonwealth.  Each individual letter  is arranged together to form the word “LOVE,” and the overall piece of art stands at 16 feet wide and 7 feet high. Traveling individuals have been stopping by the various sites and sharing their photos to demonstrate their appreciation of the longtime travel slogan “Virginia is for Lovers.” Many of these sites are located close to InnVirginia members, and if you happen to snap a photo of yourself at Ma Margaret’s LOVEwork (or at any of the other Virginia sites), feel free share it on our InnVirginia Facebook page, the Virginia is for Lovers Facebook page, and on Twitter with the hashtag #LOVEVA.

Being the month that celebrates romance, February is definitely the perfect time to plan your getaway to Ma Margaret’s house. Indulge in a Ma Margaret country style breakfast, a customized spa treatment, and of course, rest and relaxation in the privacy of your own room. If you would like to make a reservation, contact Ma Margaret’s House at reservations@mamargaretshouse.com or 804-453-9110.

Beliveau Bridalty: The Romance of Dell and Allison

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Bed & Breakfasts are catalysts of romance, housing a vast number of proposals and engagements, weddings, anniversaries, and couples’ getaways. This romance, of course, is not limited to the guests who find themselves at the inns, but also includes the employees who work there. One such employee is Dell Peters, the catering manager at Beliveau Estate in Blacksburg, VA.

Just this past November, Dell and the love of his life Allison were married at Beliveau Estate after dating for two and a half years. When asked about his relationship and his proposal, Dell laughed and said, “I told a friend once that if a woman brought me a pot of coffee while I was working a wedding, I’d have to marry her. Soon after we started dating, Allison brought me a pot of coffee during a wedding, so that was that!”

On a chilly November Saturday in 2012, Dell and Allison said their “I do’s” at Beliveau Estate. (And Dell proved his excellence as a catering manager by preparing the food for his own wedding!) “I am a lucky, lucky man,” Dell remarked. “The fact that she said yes is just amazing.”

Beliveau Estate was voted by Virginia Living Magazine as one of the Top Wedding Venues in Southwest Virginia, and it offers a picturesque scene for his ceremony and an elegant Great Hall for your reception. If you are interested in staying at Beliveau, give them a call at 540-961-0505 or email them at Info@beliveauestate.com.

Congratulations to Dell and Allison!

Time Well Spent at an Inn in New Kent

Friday, December 28th, 2012

If you are weary after a busy holiday season, you may need a new escape, a refuge where your thoughts can start afresh. If that is indeed the case, then consider The Vintager Inn. Ken, Lee, and Janice Fisher, owners of The Vintager Inn, have recently begun renovations on their barn, and it is a perfect demonstration of newness, not only in structure but also in anticipation of the future gatherings that it will hold. The Vintager Inn has hosted many weddings, and inevitably will cater to many more, and this time the newness of marriage will coincide with the newness of reconstruction.

The New Year is coming shortly, bearing the promise for fresh beginnings and a bright future after many days of work and toil. Ken Fisher states, “A theme from one of my Air Force assignments in 2006 that I have remembered is ‘treasure the past, forge the future.’ That is what we focus on at The Vintager Inn–honoring our history while preserving it for the future.”

So, what will you find at this New Kent, Virginia bed & breakfast? You’ll find a French-Country style façade that is richly steeped in history, bordering on a bountiful winery, and close by to the lush green of a golf course. You’ll immerse yourself peaceful elegance, lavish breakfasts, and personable owners who exude hospitality: “Snuggle up by the fire in your suite, cozy in your plush robe amid touches of chocolate, delicate blues, silk and toille. Tranquility pervades as you sip delicious wine, gazing across pastoral fields. Soft breezes carry lilting birdsong across the quiet.”

To contact The Vintager Inn, call (804) 938-5528, email them at reservations@thevintagerinn.com, or send them a message via Facebook. (Also, be sure to check out their website!)

Have a wonderful New Year and a Happy 2013!
