Beliveau Bridalty: The Romance of Dell and Allison

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Bed & Breakfasts are catalysts of romance, housing a vast number of proposals and engagements, weddings, anniversaries, and couples’ getaways. This romance, of course, is not limited to the guests who find themselves at the inns, but also includes the employees who work there. One such employee is Dell Peters, the catering manager at Beliveau Estate in Blacksburg, VA.

Just this past November, Dell and the love of his life Allison were married at Beliveau Estate after dating for two and a half years. When asked about his relationship and his proposal, Dell laughed and said, “I told a friend once that if a woman brought me a pot of coffee while I was working a wedding, I’d have to marry her. Soon after we started dating, Allison brought me a pot of coffee during a wedding, so that was that!”

On a chilly November Saturday in 2012, Dell and Allison said their “I do’s” at Beliveau Estate. (And Dell proved his excellence as a catering manager by preparing the food for his own wedding!) “I am a lucky, lucky man,” Dell remarked. “The fact that she said yes is just amazing.”

Beliveau Estate was voted by Virginia Living Magazine as one of the Top Wedding Venues in Southwest Virginia, and it offers a picturesque scene for his ceremony and an elegant Great Hall for your reception. If you are interested in staying at Beliveau, give them a call at 540-961-0505 or email them at

Congratulations to Dell and Allison!

Virginia Romantic Vacation

A Late Given Rose

A single rose - that's romantic.

Virginia bed and breakfasts excel at creating romantic environments, thanks in large part to the love and attention of the innkeepers. Let’s face it, when was the last time you stayed in a chain hotel and found it to be romantic? They can be comfortable, they can be convenient, but they don’t offer that inexplicable “je ne sais quoi” that is the purview of individually owned and operated inns.

Romantic Specials at bed and breakfasts Virginia vary widely. You may find chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of Virginia Wine in the room upon arrival. You may dine at the inn or at a nearby elegant restaurant. You’ll breakfast in the morning on fine china by candlelight.

Some Virginia bed and breakfasts arrange a tour of nearby Virginia Wineries and provide two wine glasses to help you remember your romantic stay. Others include a night at the theatre in their romance specials. You may find yourself skimming over the tops of trees during an early morning hot air balloon ride, or enjoying side by side in-room massages. The possibilities are endless.

If you are in the mood for a romantic Virginia Vacation, be sure to browse our Packages and Specials Page. Innkeepers are masters of creating romantic moods. Let them help add romance to your next Virginia bed and breakfast experience.

Virginia Romantic Getaway – It’s Time

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Don’t let another summer pass without making time for a Romantic Getaway in Virginia.

If summer romance means water and sun, head to a Virginia Bed and Breakfast near the Chesapeake Bay or the Virginia coast. Woe your sweetie with a moonlit canoe trip, or an afternoon sailing adventure. Share a bottle of Virginia Wine that you select after touring the region’s wineries. Watch the sunset while holding hands as you walk along the beach.

If summer romance means cool wooded trails and mountains, head to the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Drive the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway in search of the perfect scenic overlook to share a picnic. Go horseback riding in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. Sleep late, eat an amazing breakfast at your Virginia Bed and Breakfast, and spend a day poking through antique shops in search of treasures.

If summer romance means late nights in the city, head to Northern Virginia and enjoy excursions into the nation’s capitol. Spend days exploring the many historic sites of the region, and then dress up and go to the city for dinner and entertainment.

No matter what defines romance for the two of you, you’ll find it in Virginia. For inspiration, check out our Virginia travel packages and specials page; many inns offer romance packages that can help make any holiday cause for celebration.
