Thursday, February 13th, 2014

Bed and breakfasts are the epitome of a romantic setting—fireside dinners, wine tasting, cozy suites, and elegant amenities. There’s no doubt that our Inn Virginia members are chosen to host a myriad of romantic milestones with everything from anniversary celebrations to intimate wedding ceremonies to “just because” getaways.

Are you looking to commemorate the anniversary of your first date? Your engagement? Your wedding? Mountain Rose Inn is at your service with their Anniversary Celebration Package, a two-night escape to re-kindle your romance. Sip from a glass of sparkling wine, and nibble on cheese or chocolates. Feast on a romantic meal at a local restaurant, and return to relax with a couples’ massage. The best part? Your innkeepers orchestrate everything, so you can sit back and enjoy a couple of stress-free days of romance.

“I would not wish any companion in the world but you” (William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.) Perhaps your significant other is a fan of the Bard, and while a trip to Shakespeare’s original Blackfriars Theater in England may be an improbable journey for you, we’ve got the next best thing—the world’s only recreation of the Blackfriars, located in Staunton, VA.  Belle Hearth Bed and Breakfast offers a Shakespearean Romantic Night at their inn, which not only includes two tickets to a performance at the Blackfriars Playhouse, but also your choice of either flowers, wine, or a box of chocolates. (This would also make a great opportunity for a proposal. After all, who does romance better than Shakespeare?)

Weddings also happen to be a bed and breakfast specialty. Whether you’re looking for a small, intimate setting or a fast but elegant elopement, our inns are at the ready. Bring your future spouse and up to 20 guests to Magnolia House Inn’s Wedding Chapel for a complete nuptial ceremony. Innkeepers Joyce and Lankford Blair are interfaith wedding ministers who also provide elopements, vow renewals, and commitment ceremonies. Take some of the stress out of your special day with the help of our innkeepers.

A Box Full of Love: Romance at the Boxwood Inn

Thursday, February 21st, 2013

“One who walks the road with love will never walk the road alone.” – C.T. David

With February being celebrated as the month of love, we have another bed & breakfast wedding story to share with you all. The Boxwood Inn is a “family-run B&B” in Newport News, VA. Over the years, the inn has seen many instances of love, be it from their romantic packages, intimate dinners, anniversary getaways, or wedding celebrations. The latter instance includes not only guests, but also the family that runs the inn.

The Boxwood Inn’s Executive Chef married his love, Rebekah, in October of 2009 at the beautiful B&B which also happens to be their place of employment. Rebekah says, “We feel very blessed to not only work together, but also to get to be in the place where ‘it all started’ every day. We have a great love for our inn and we were honored to be able to share that with our family and friends as we celebrated our love for each other.”

Not only is the Boxwood Inn a perfect venue for upcoming nuptials, but it is also a wonderful spot for other romantic instances such as anniversaries, honeymoons, and couples getaways: “The inn is the perfect place for romance! Guests can complete their romantic evening with an overnight stay and a bottle of champagne…Guests can also really wow their sweetie with a Romance and Relaxation package, featuring a 60-minute couples’ massage.”

Beliveau Bridalty: The Romance of Dell and Allison

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Bed & Breakfasts are catalysts of romance, housing a vast number of proposals and engagements, weddings, anniversaries, and couples’ getaways. This romance, of course, is not limited to the guests who find themselves at the inns, but also includes the employees who work there. One such employee is Dell Peters, the catering manager at Beliveau Estate in Blacksburg, VA.

Just this past November, Dell and the love of his life Allison were married at Beliveau Estate after dating for two and a half years. When asked about his relationship and his proposal, Dell laughed and said, “I told a friend once that if a woman brought me a pot of coffee while I was working a wedding, I’d have to marry her. Soon after we started dating, Allison brought me a pot of coffee during a wedding, so that was that!”

On a chilly November Saturday in 2012, Dell and Allison said their “I do’s” at Beliveau Estate. (And Dell proved his excellence as a catering manager by preparing the food for his own wedding!) “I am a lucky, lucky man,” Dell remarked. “The fact that she said yes is just amazing.”

Beliveau Estate was voted by Virginia Living Magazine as one of the Top Wedding Venues in Southwest Virginia, and it offers a picturesque scene for his ceremony and an elegant Great Hall for your reception. If you are interested in staying at Beliveau, give them a call at 540-961-0505 or email them at Info@beliveauestate.com.

Congratulations to Dell and Allison!

Virginia Bed and Breakfasts are Romantic

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

It’s true. Whether you are drawn to mountains or the sea, urban areas or the country, you will find Virginia bed and breakfasts ideal for romance. We are not limited to romantic getaways, but we do excel at them.

Right off the bat, you’ll find Virginia Bed and Breakfasts romantic. Our member inns exude warmth – something that instantly sets us apart from corporate hotels. Charming settings, unique furnishings and unparalleled hospitality greet couples as they enter their home away from home. In the winter, roaring fires crackle invitingly in hearths. During warmer months, the cool shade of porches is irresistible. The inns foster relaxation, quietude, and good humor – all essential for romance.

Many Bed and Breakfasts Virginia offer romance specials and packages to help set the right mood. Share champagne or wine in your room, accompanied by rich cheese plates or decadent chocolates. Treat yourself to a couple’s massage. Sink into large jetted tubs. Some inns offer dinner by candlelight, while other innkeepers may partner with the most romantic restaurant in the vicinity.

The perfect romantic getaway is different for everyone. There are couples who find nothing more romantic than a long hike through the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, while others prefer urban areas and an elegant dinner at a four-restaurant. No matter what defines the ultimate romantic weekend for you, there is certainly a Virginia bed and breakfast that will make your dreams come true.
