If you haven’t heard of Virginia’s Northern Neck, it’s the peninsula between the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers with the Chesapeake Bay on its eastern most border. On the eastern edge of the peninsula is Kilmarnock, a charming small town with bigger city amenities.
Beginning in the 18th century as "The Crossroads" and then "Steptoe’s Ordinary", Kilmarnock is filled with shopping, strolling and dining. Pedestrian friendly sidewalks bring back a feeling of yesteryear.
Local B&Bs and restaurants offer a jumping off spot to the region’s activities. Stop at the Kilmarnock Museum or visit Historic Christ Church which is only minutes away. "Find your family" by using the genealogical library at Mary Ball Washington Museum and Library in nearby Lancaster Courthouse historic district. Visit the Birthplaces of George Washington and Robert E. Lee as part of a day trip through the Northern Neck.
Wineries on the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail are a few short miles away. White Fences Vineyard and Athena Vineyards are our neighbors.
