Fleeton Fields Bed & Breakfast
On the edge of Reedville is Fleeton, Fleet's Point received its name from Capt. Henry Fleet, who left Jamestown to explore the area in the 1650's. Fleet's Point was part of an early 5,000 acre plantation granted by the King of England. During the steamboat era Fleet's Point wharf became a landing for vessels between Maryland and Virginia, and the small village of Fleeton developed.
Remaining now is the charm of a quiet village with FLEETON FIELDS nestled in a parklike setting on the edge of Fleeton in an area of large properties and beautiful homes.
THE GARDEN SUITE is a wing on the first floor, it has a private entrance and sitting room with a fireplace. A large bedroom and bath offer a view into the gardens and the water beyond. THE VICTORIAN SUITE is located on the second floor, a beautiful bedroom with private bath and small nursery attached with a single bed to accomodate a third person or child. THE TIDAL POND SUITE is also on the second floor, with a bedroom and separate sitting room and private bath across the hall.
Each suite offers waterviews, queen size bed, DirecTV, wireless internet, mini-refrigerators stocked with bottled water and soft drinks, and soft luxurious bathrobes. Cots are available.
Reedville was founded in 1867 and is on the National Historic Register, the Reedville Fishermen's Museum can be contacted at www.northerneck.com/museum. The Crazy Crab and Tommy's are restuarants located in Reedville, and there are many to choose from nearby. Walk along Main Street and see beautiful Victorian homes, charter a fishing boat, take a cruise to Smith or Tangier Island, visit Stratford Hall, home of Robert E. Lee or Pope's Creek Plantaition, birthplace of George Washington. Nature trails, canoeing, kayaking, golf, and antique shopping will keep you busy for a long weekend or just enjoy a relaxed getaway.
