The Buckhorn Inn
If only these walls could talk... Just stepping inside the 200 year old stage coach stop sets your imagination racing back, wondering about all the goings on that have taken place through the strands of time. The Yoder family is proud to be stewards of the legendary Buckhorn Inn. Our family continues its long and glorious history.
You will feel a worlds apart from the in-town commercial establishments, yet you're only 20 minutes off I-81. The inn is very authentic and allows you to feel right at home with an easy going style. The Buckhorn is the real deal. Feel the presence of this historic inn and plan your next gathering here. We feel certain that you too will be captivated by this Virginia landmark. If you are planning a wedding, family reunion, or business meeting it is an excellent place to host your event.
The Buckhorn Inn has been a landmark since 1811. Back then it was called the Dudley House. In 1854, Professor Thomas Jackson (before he was dubbed Stonewall)and his wife stopped off here on their way to Hot Springs VA. In 1862, after the Civil War Battle of McDowell, many of the wounded were cared for in the Buckhorn. When the Buckhorn was a way station on the stagecoach route it was renowned as a hot spot for high class gambling. Healthy fresh mountian air and famous spas in Warm and Hot Springs attracted travelers from big cities and coastal areas.
It remains as an excellent layover to travelers to Monterey, Bath County, and also Snowshoe, West Virginia.
We are quite accessible to James Madison University (40 minutes from Harrisonburg), Mary Balwdwin (20 minutes from Staunton), Virginia Military Institute (45 miles), University of Virginia (Charlottesville 1 hour).
All accommodations in the Buckhorn Inn are comfortable and have separate bathroom facilities. The rates are per night for double occupancy. You can relax in the ambiance of history, and surf the internet or watch your satellite TV all at the same time. A full country breakfast is included with your room, and we only have one rule...you can't leave hungry.
Check-in time is after 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
We are your home away from home when you need that break from your life. When you and your spouce want that special get-a-way. When the ladies want to have a girlfriend get-a-way. When the whole family needs a simple vacation.
Welcome home to The Buckhorn Inn.
