The Hummingbird Inn has been successfully operated as a Bed and Breakfast Inn since 1991. The original portion of the inn was a single room, circa 1780, of post & beam construction now serving as a rustic den. In 1853, the building was expanded to a three-story Victorian Carpenter Gothic structure with wrap-around verandas and shady porches.

The first floor has extensive common areas including, a den, a parlor, a sunny solarium, a dining room, a half bath, a kitchen, an office, and a spacious guest room which opens onto a private patio.

The second level boasts four guest rooms, each with a private bath and a fireplace or electric stove. Two of these guest rooms have whirlpool tubs and one has a double shower. This floor also houses the laundry, linen storage and an additional full bath for the owners.

The entire third level of the home, accessed by a spiral staircase, is given over to the innkeepers for their private quarters! Here you have a large bedroom of over 300 square feet with a sunny alcove and plenty of room for relaxing. There is an additional bedroom/office, another full bath, a large storage room or small kitchen, and a walk-in closet.

The Hummingbird Inn is situated on over an acre of beautifully landscaped grounds. Next to the creek, which borders the property, there is an old livery stable and a wonderful new deck where guests can gather to relax while listening to the water rushing over the rocks.

Goshen is an historic Shenandoah Valley town in the foothills of the Alleghany Mountains. The area abounds in scenic beauty and Civil War sites.

Within a 30 minute drive to the west are The Jefferson Pools at Warm Springs and the renowned resort The Homestead at Hot Springs, Virginia. 30 minutes to the east is historic Lexington, Virginia, home to Washington & Lee University and Virginia Military Institute.

Close by is Staunton, Virginia with its magnificent re-creation of Shakespeare's Blackfriars Playhouse, the Woodrow Wilson Museum, and Mary Baldwin College. Hiking, fishing, hunting and other outdoor recreational pursuits are plentiful.

A few miles from town, Goshen Pass, an ancient gorge rich in history, is a favorite spot any season of the year. Driving through the countryside you may wish to stop at a local vineyard, a yarn shop, a working gristmill, an herb garden or simply enjoy the pastoral views and the sublimity of the mountains.

Located on Virginia Route 39, The Hummingbird Inn is easily reached from the intersection of I-81 and I-64.
